With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gary Vervaecke, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, in Chatham, at the age of 84.
Gary was born in Wallaceburg and was a son of the late Gustaf and Jeanne (Gorry) Vervaecke.
Beloved husband of Jo-Anne (Smith) Vervaecke.
Loving father of Janis (Rob) Goetheyn and Jeffrey Vervaecke. He is survived by his grandchildren Taylor (Marty) Myers, Krista (Brandon Darcy) Vervaecke and his great grandchildren Sebastian, Noah and Maxwell Darcy, Xavier and Ryatt Myers.
Kind brother of Gail (the late Glen) Ross and the late Jeanette (the late Daryl) Mader.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The late Gary Vervaecke rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg.
Following his wishes, cremation will take place.
As an expression of sympathy donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, Kidney Foundation or the Chatham-Kent Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
