Nature CK volunteers plant 40 native plants at Paw Paw Woods

Six volunteers planted 40 native plants, including paw paw trees, during a recent community conservation event at Paw Paw Woods in Wallaceburg organized by Nature CK.

The group’s pop-up planting initiative was completed in about 30 minutes, with volunteers Patti, Mike, Coop, Susan, Laurie and Ismay taking part.

Nature CK said the new plantings will support pollinators, provide habitat for wildlife and help strengthen the local ecosystem for years to come.

“It is amazing what can happen when a small group comes together with a shared purpose,” the organization said. “Every plant placed in the ground is another step toward a healthier, more resilient Chatham-Kent.”

Nature CK thanked the volunteers for their efforts, saying their work will leave a lasting impact on the landscape for future generations. The organization also recognized Zeke, a dog described as the event’s “four-legged supervisor.”

The organization said the project at Paw Paw Woods demonstrates the impact community volunteers can have on local conservation efforts.
