Michael Bondy, Candidate for Mayor, Chatham-Kent
What motivated you to run in the 2026 municipal election, and what do you believe you can bring to Chatham-Kent council that is needed right now?
“I have 16 years of experience on Council. Despite voting against every tax increase over 16 years, our property taxes have increased faster than the cost of living. We need a change. For more information, go to bondy4mayor.com.”
What are the biggest issues facing residents across Chatham-Kent, and how would you work to address them if elected?
“We have forgotten about the basics of municipal governance. Taxes, roads, arena, are what we need to focus on. We are one of the most heavily taxed municipalities in Ontario and one that can least afford it. We need to support each community in Chatham-Kent and help them have more control over what happens in their town.”
What would you like voters to know about you personally — including your background, experience, and values — as they decide who to support in this election?
“Not only do I have 16 years on council, but I have been married for 30 years and we raised five children. I ran Bondy’s Dry Cleaners for twenty years and have a degree in political science from Western. I bring a unique blend of experience that will help restore those basic values to the Mayor’s position.”
