Man arrested after window smashed with shopping cart in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police have arrested a 29-year-old man after a front window was damaged on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police were dispatched to a building on St. Clair Street at approximately 9:35 a.m. on July 13, 2026, regarding mischief to a front window.

Police reviewed surveillance video and noted a male ram the window with a shopping cart. He then proceeded to punch and kick it, breaking the window.

Police searched the area and located the male.

A 29-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested for mischief and two counts of failing to comply with probation.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and held for bail.
