Municipal offices and most services in Chatham-Kent will be closed Monday, Sept. 7, in recognition of the Labour Day holiday, the municipality says.
All arenas, EarlyON programs, leaf and yard depots, waste depots, pools and Chatham-Kent Public Library branches will be closed for the day, as will the Chatham Capitol Theatre, Kiwanis Theatre, CKTickets Box Office, Chatham Cultural Centre, Chatham-Kent Museum, Ridge House Museum, Milner Heritage House, Thames Art Gallery and ARTspace. Virtual library services remain available around the clock at www.ckpl.ca.
Cemeteries staff will be available on call for funeral homes requiring at-need lot sales or interment orders. CK Public Health will be closed, though residents experiencing a public health emergency can call 519-352-7270 and follow the prompts to reach after-hours service. Acceptance of well water samples at the Public Health lab will be paused starting Friday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. until regular office hours resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Police, fire and ambulance services remain operational around the clock and are accessible by dialing 911 for emergencies only. The fire administration office will be closed Monday, reopening Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
Employment and Social Services, Entegrus, Fleet Services, Housing Services, the Provincial Offences Court, the Public Utilities Commission, RIDE CK Transit and Service Ontario locations in Chatham and Dresden will all be closed for the day. Entegrus’s emergency call number is 519-352-6300, while the Homeless Response Line at 519-354-6628 for homeless emergencies remains operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Public Works administrative offices will be closed, with road services available for emergencies only. At Riverview Gardens, reception and administrative offices will be closed, though nursing staff can be reached around the clock by calling 519-352-4823. CK Tourism will also be closed, with visitor information available anytime at www.visitck.ca.
Waste and recycling administrative offices will be closed, and waste collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. Residents are asked to refer to the 2026 Recycling and Waste Collection Guide for further details. Fines for provincial offences can continue to be paid online at www.paytickets.ca during the closure.
