Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Sarnia Police Service is investigating several reports of vandalism to and theft of wiring from commercial air conditioning units in the downtown core, with damage estimated at more than $30,000.
The incidents occurred in the area between Davis Street and George Street, from Front Street to Vidal Street.
Police are asking for public assistance in identifying a person of interest in the incidents. Anyone who can identify the person is asked to contact the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861 or make an anonymous report to Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com.
Businesses in the downtown area are encouraged to review the space around their AC units and ensure the area is well-lit, that security cameras are in place and working, and that signage indicates the area is under video surveillance. These small steps can act as a crime deterrent and also assist police with their investigation should any damage occur.
