Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Chatham man has been arrested after allegedly approaching and attempting to speak with a woman he was court-ordered not to contact.
On Wednesday at approximately 4:41 p.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to an intimate partner violence-related incident in Chatham. Through investigation, police learned that the man was bound by conditions not to associate or communicate with the woman as a result of a previous intimate partner violence investigation. Police say the man observed the woman sitting on a bench, approached her and attempted to engage her in conversation, contrary to his release conditions.
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failure to comply with a release order.
He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.
