Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A Harwich Township man has been charged with impaired driving after his vehicle entered a ditch on Wheatley Road in Wheatley.
On Wednesday at approximately 10:45 p.m., members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision on Wheatley Road. Police located a vehicle that had entered a ditch, and through investigation, officers formed grounds to believe the driver had been operating the vehicle while impaired by alcohol.
The driver was arrested and transported to Chatham-Kent Police headquarters for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old man from Harwich Township was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 milligrams or more.
He was released on an undertaking with a future court date of Oct. 26, 2026.
