Youth charged after stolen vehicle recovered in Dover Township

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: A 17-year-old Dover Township youth has been charged after a stolen vehicle was recovered following a report from a Wallaceburg business.

Chatham-Kent police received a report at approximately 2:07 p.m. that a Chrysler 300 had been stolen from the rear parking area of a business on James Street. Officers reviewed surveillance footage and saw the vehicle travelling northbound on North Street at approximately 3:45 p.m. It was located on Pain Court Line about 45 minutes later.

The youth was found operating the vehicle and was arrested without incident. He was released into the care of a guardian with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18. He has been charged with mischief under $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime.
