Wallaceburg is set to transform into “Halloween Town” this month with a four-day fall festival that organizers say will offer family-friendly fun and nightlife for all ages.
The event is a partnership between the Downtown Wallaceburg BIA, the Nightmare on Nelson organizers and the Wallaceburg Fair committee. Organizers say the downtown core and Glen Mickle Park will be visually transformed with atmospheric Halloween decor.
Local midway company Family Time Amusements will set up a carnival in Glen Mickle Park from Thursday, Oct. 29, to Sunday, Nov. 1. Details on the Halloween Fair are available at facebook.com/wallaceburgfair.
On Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, the BIA is hosting Wallaceburg’s Boo Bash in the downtown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Halloween games for all ages run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Chatham-Kent police will be on hand to share Halloween safety tips for trick-or-treating that evening.
A 360-degree photo booth will be set up at Glasstown Brewery. A Halloween costume contest is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Glasstown Brewery patio stage, where participants can show off their spookiest, silliest or most creative costume.
That night, the Zombie Crawl begins at 6 p.m. The first stop is Royal Canadian Legion Branch 18 at the Forks, followed by The Stubby Goat and then Glasstown Brewing Co. The crawl features specialty drinks and a costume contest. More details are available at facebook.com/DowntownWallaceburg.
The Nightmare on Nelson, which organizers say grew from one home to a few homes building a large Halloween maze that draws hundreds of people on Halloween night, is also returning this year.
The Wallaceburg Museum is holding its annual Halloween display and will run programs on Oct. 16 and 17 and Oct. 23 and 24. Participants can sign up for the Witches Lair haunted escape room. Details are available at facebook.com/wallaceburgmuseum.
Organizers say the Halloween Fair, the BIA’s zombie crawl and the Nightmare on Nelson are set to be the hallmark events of the season.
Watch for more details as they become available.
