Ontario marks Small Business Week with tax cut, advisory centre funding

Associate Minister Nina Tangri says the Ontario government is continuing to deliver on its plan to protect small businesses as the province marks Small Business Week.

In a statement Monday, Tangri said more than 500,000 small businesses in Ontario employ close to 2.5 million people. She said the government is providing businesses with $12 billion in savings each year through actions taken since 2018.

The 2026 Ontario budget cut the small business corporate income tax rate from 3.2 per cent to 2.2 per cent, which the government says delivers $1.1 billion in relief and up to $5,000 in annual savings to more than 375,000 small businesses.

The province is also investing a record $49 million over the next three years in its network of Ontario Small Business Advisory Centres, which offer one-on-one consultations, training, provincial programs and grants at more than 50 locations. Tangri said ongoing investments in Futurpreneur and Summer Company aim to increase access to capital, networking opportunities and training for young entrepreneurs.

“On behalf of the Government of Ontario, thank you to all small business owners, entrepreneurs and workers for your relentless determination, hard work and invaluable contributions to our province. I encourage everyone to continue protecting Ontario-made innovation and jobs by supporting your local businesses,” Tangri said.
