The fire that ripped through a garage at 38 First Street in Wallaceburg on Wednesday (Feb. 26) completely destroyed the structure.

Chatham-Kent Fire Department officials said $50,000 was caused. The cause of the blaze has also been ruled as accidental.

“Fire crews responded to and quickly extinguished a fully involved garage fire,” stated Scott Sproule, inspector with the Chatham-Kent Fire Department.

Sproule said combustible material was next to a heat source causing the blaze.

Spoule said it is important to keep combustible material at least one meter away from heat sources.

No one was injured in the blaze.
