The Walpole Island Ferry is back on schedule, a day earlier than expected.
James Jenkins, political advisor to Walpole Island’s chief and council, told the Sydenham Current the ferry will start transporting passengers to Algonac Michigan starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25.
Jenkins said Transport Canada granted the ferry an extension for a routine maintenance inspection that had been scheduled for this week.
“Everything is on schedule,” he said.
Jenkins said on Tuesday the manager of the ferry had to deal with a personal issue, which forced the ferry to be shut down before the long weekend.
Walpole-Algonac Ferry Ltd. has been in operation for over 100 years.
