It’s the little things

By Glen Turner – Special to the Sydenham Current

It’s the little things.

I’ve said it many times, but it’s worth saying again – “It’s the little things in life that can make you smile.”

Like cleaning out that ’empty’ peanut butter jar… with a knife, and REALLY finishing off the ‘PB’.

Like, tearing apart the turkey or chicken carcass after it’s ‘all done’ – and loving how much is actually still there!

Like, finding a $10 bill in a pair of pants or jacket you haven’t worn for a long time!

Or, the moment you realize that the snow has actually stopped falling!

And, realizing that it’s the Winter Solstice on December 21, and that the days will slowly start getting longer again.

How about an unexpected Christmas card, from someone you haven’t seen for a long time?

There’s always the little satisfaction on the first taste of that new recipe you’ve always wanted to try to prepare… and it’s GOOD!

Or getting the very last item on the shelf at any store… something you really wanted or needed.

Or seeing the first blossom on a plant you weren’t sure would ever flower.

Please feel free to add to my list.

I’m sure there are many many more ‘little things’ that make you smile.
