An arson investigation has been launched after a blaze at the Tom and Al’s warehouse in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service service official say they are looking for the public’s assistance with an arson investigation that occurred on December 23 between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. at 479 King Street in Wallaceburg.

“If you were walking or driving in this area at this time please contact Constable Brad Hyatt of the Criminal Investigations Division at 519-436-6600 ext. 288 or contact the front desk to leave a voice message at (519) 436-6600.”

The time of the call came in at 6:59 a.m. and firefighters arrived shortly thereafter.

Bob Davidson, assistant fire chief, says there were no reported injuries.

“The cause will be considered under investigation at this time,” Davidson said in a press release sent earlier this morning.

“An initial response from Wallaceburg Station 3 saw firefighters arriving to find a working fire at a commercial warehouse that had breached the roof. The fire was contained to the initial fire occupancy. Station 3 Wallaceburg, Station 2 Chatham, an Aerial from Station 1 Chatham and Station 5 Tupperville attended.”

One house and a garage at the back of the structure was exposed to the blaze, Davidson says.

At this time, there is no damage estimate available.
