Salvation Army eclipses Christmas campaign target

The Salvation Army of Chatham-Kent is thrilled after eclipsing their target for the 2017 Christmas campaign, surpassing their target by nearly $11,000.

Captain Karen Holland says their goal was to raise $460,000 and they ended up raising $470,07.15.

“I want to give a huge thank you to the people of Chatham-Kent,” Holland told the Sydenham Current.

In Wallaceburg specifically, the goal was $105,000 and the final fundraising total was $109,428.52, Holland said.

“Because of our generous community, from the volunteers who stood at the kettles, to the people who put money in the kettles, the businesses who allowed us to have kettles at their locations, the people who mailed in their donations and donated food and toys as well as money, the Chatham-Kent Salvation Army had a very successful Christmas campaign,” Holland said.

“We really appreciate the support from such a wonderful, caring and compassionate community. God bless each of you and may 2018 bring you lots of joy.”

The Christmas campaign wrapped up on December 23.
