Trespassing and theft charges at Wallaceburg’s Walmart

Two men faces charges after two separate incidents on Sunday at Walmart in Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say yesterday morning, officers responded to a suspicious man inside Walmart on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Police say the man was allegedly asked to leave the property by staff and refused.

Upon police arrival, the 39-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with trespassing.

In a separate incident yesterday afternoon at Walmart in Wallaceburg, a man entered the electronics section.

Police say he allegedly grabbed a Sony Bluetooth speaker from the shelf, removed it from the packaging and placed the speaker in his sweater pocket.

The man exited Walmart making no attempt to pay for the item valued at approximately $60, police officials allege.

The man was stopped by store security and police were called.

A 26-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of March 1, 2018.
