Frost advisory in place across Chatham-Kent

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory across Chatham-Kent.

Forecasters say frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas.

“Temperatures tonight will fall to near or below freezing for several hours, even in regions where winds don’t diminish to light,” Environment Canada officials say.

“Hence tender plants may be subject to a general freeze tonight. Temperatures immediately along the shorelines of the Great Lakes may hover just above the zero degree mark thanks to the relatively mild waters of the lakes. Temperatures will rise above the freezing mark after sunrise Tuesday morning.”

Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas, forecaster say.

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
