House fire in Ridgetown causes $250,000 damage

A house fire in Ridgetown has caused $250,000 damage.

“At 7:38 this morning, Station #11 – Ridgetown and Station #10 – Highgate were dispatched for a reported structure fire on Golf Course Line, Ridgetown,” fire officials said in a media release on Friday, October 27, 2023.

“Pumper 10, Pumper 11, Tanker 10, Tanker 11, Rescue 10, Rescue 11, Ladder 11 and CK 3 responded and reported heavy smoke coming from all sides of the single storey home. All occupants who were home at the time of the fire were able to exit safely and were assessed by CK EMS for minor smoke inhalation.”

Fire officials said firefighters advanced hose lines to the rear of the structure making an aggressive interior attack on the fire.

“The fire was knocked down quickly and firefighters continued to work on clearing smoke and checking for fire extension into the attic,” fire officials say.

“Chatham-Kent Police worked with Victim Services for those displaced from the home.

Damages are estimated at $250,000, the cause has been ruled accidental and there were no injuries reported.
