Suspicious activity in Chatham leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 8, 2024, at 3:11 a.m., police responded to Gladstone Avenue in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.

Information was received a car was idling at an intersection for an extended period of time.

Officers located the vehicle and believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol.

The man refused to cooperate with a roadside breath test.

Officers also learned he did not possess a valid driver’s license.

The 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and released with a future court date.

He was charged with impaired driving and refusal.

He was also issued a Part III summons for driving with a suspended drivers license.

His vehicle was towed from the scene.
