Suspicious driving investigation leads to impaired driving charges in St. Clair Township

OPP officials allege: On Sunday May 25, 2024, at just after 12 a.m., a uniform member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Lyndock Street, St. Clair Township, in relation to a suspicious motor vehicle investigation.

While on general patrol, an OPP officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked in a parking lot of a local business.

In speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the OPP officer suspected the driver of previously consuming alcoholic beverages.

A roadside screening device was administered.

The driver was consequently placed under arrest and transported to the Lambton OPP – Corunna Detachment for breath testing which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

A 44-year-old Sarnia resident has been charged with the following:

– Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus),

– Operation While Impaired – Alcohol.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on July 16, 2024.

The motor vehicle has been impounded for a period of seven days and the driver has had their license suspended for a period of 90 days.
