Members of the Board of Trustees for the St. Clair Catholic District School Board had an opportunity to express their deep gratitude to Noelle’s Gift, for its generous support of students. Jackie Major-Daamen and Sue Serratore, members of the Noelle’s Gift charitable fund, were guests at last nights Board meeting.

“Through this amazing charity, Noelle Paquette continues to touch the hearts of children, just as she did in life,” says Carol Bryden, Chair of the Board. “Thank you for the great work that you do.”

“We have heard tonight some of the many touching stories which demonstrate how Noelle’s Gift makes a difference in the lives of our students and their families,” says Dan Parr, Director of Education. “On behalf of our entire Board and our schools, we want to express our sincere appreciation.”

The Noelle’s Gift charitable fund was established last year in memory of Noelle Paquette, a former Kindergarten teacher with St. Clair Catholic, who died in January 2013. Last September, the fund donated $15,000 to St. Clair Catholic, to support students and families in crisis.

“There are many stories about the level of need in our schools,” says Lisa Demers, Principal of Special Education and Administrator of the St. Clair Catholic Noelle’s Gift fund. “Since September, funds have been expended to assist a family who lost their possessions in a fire; to help a recently unemployed family pay for prescription medicine for their children; and to help a student, trying to re-engage in school, pay for transportation to and from a co-op placement. These are only a few examples of how Noelle’s Gift helps us help our students.”

Since September, St. Clair Catholic has disbursed just over $6,000 to assist students and families. In addition to expending funds, St. Clair Catholic staff have also raised significant funds, which have been donated to the Board’s Noelle’s Gift account.

“Our staff is pleased to support this worthy cause,” says Mr. Parr.
