Healthy Kids Community Challenge needs input

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent, together with their partners, are applying for a grant to implement activities that support healthy eating, physical activity, and good sleeping habits for children and youth in Chatham-Kent.

The Healthy Kids Community Challenge brings together partners from a variety of sectors (public health, education, recreation, local business) to work together to promote healthy behaviours in children and youth. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care will select thirty communities from across the province who will each receive up to $1.5M over 4 years for activities that help kids be healthy now and into their future.

In order to apply for the funding, we need our community’s help to name the project. Mayor Randy Hope said, “The Healthy Kids Community Challenge is an excellent opportunity for us to create a community where children can be healthy and active in order to succeed in life. I’m eager to see what creative name the community will come up with for us to submit with the grant.”

Submit your idea by visiting www.chatham-kent.ca and click on the Healthy Kids Community Challenge. We will begin taking suggestions on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 until Monday, March 3, 2014 at midnight. From the ideas submitted, we will announce 5 names for the community to vote on. The name that receives the most votes will be what the project is called!

Remember this project is to help kids eat healthier, move and play more, and sleep well. Submit your creative ideas for Chatham-Kent’s Healthy Kids Community Challenge!
