The investigation is on-going into the fire that ripped through the former Hillerich and Bradsby (H&B) building on Arnold Street in Wallaceburg.
Chatham-Kent fire inspector Guy Deschenes said in a press release that the blaze remains under investigation.
Damage is pegged at $100,000, while firefighters were able to salvage $475,000 worth of property during the St. Patrick’s Day blaze on March 17.
“Fire crews responded to a fire in a vacant factory,” Deschenes said. “Flames were through the roof on arrival.”
Firefighters from Stations 1 and 2 battled the blaze for four and a half hours.
Calls to Deschenes for more information were not returned.
The Chatham-Kent police said they believe the fire “may be suspicious.”
Sources tell us that the inside of the building has been heavily vandalized from over the years – but this has not been confirmed by the authorities.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Lori Timpson of the Major Crime Unit at 519-436-6600 extension 267.
