The Chatham-Kent Fire Department are not sure what started a marsh fire along the Snye River on Thursday evening near Walpole Island.
“It seems to be an annual ritual,” said Rick Arnel, assistant fire chief with the CKFD. “We’re not sure what started it.”
Arnel says there was no damage as a result of the blaze.
“There was no dollar loss,” he said. “It burnt towards the river and burnt itself out. There was no damage and no injuries.”
