The men’s and women’s golf leagues are already under way at Baldoon Golf Club this season – but there is still room and time to sign up.

“Beginner golfer, expert golfer, it doesn’t matter what type of golfer, we encourage anyone to come out and play,” said Ryan Gurd, director of golf. “People can sign up as an individual, and they will be paired up with others in the league, or they can bring their own foursome to play.”

Gurd said the women’s league runs every Monday, and the tee times are blocked off from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Green fees are $15 and the league runs until September 15. Registration is $70 – that will cover their three food nights, their banquet night and they get a prize at the end of the year

Gurd added there is a points system for the women’s league.

“If you beat your average you get two points, if you tie your average you get one point, if you don’t beat your average you get zero, we also have an attendance point, so if you just show up and hand in a scorecard you get one point for your team no matter what,” he said. “We keep track all season and whatever team has the most points at the end of the season, can declare themselves the women’s league champions. “

Gurd said in the men’s league, its the same point system, but there is a playoff system involved.

He said the playoffs run for four weeks and you go one-on-one against a team. Whatever team has the most points moves on, and whoever is left at the end is the champion.

The men’s league runs every Wednesday and the tee times are blocked off between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Cost to register in the men’s league is $75. The last night is Oct. 1, which is their banquet night.
