A new meat and deli business is setting up shop in Wallaceburg, in a familiar place with some familiar faces.

Michelle and Al Babcock, owners the Dresden Meat Packers on Hwy. 78, is expanding their business into the former M&M Meats location in the plaza on McNaughton Avenue.

The new business will be called Dresden Meat and Deli.

“It will be a retail outlet, just like we have here… fresh, frozen deli meats,” Michelle said. “No cutting will be done there, we’ll be cutting it in Dresden and taking it over to Wallaceburg.

Michelle said they were contacted by the former owner of M&M’s about setting up shop in Wallaceburg.

“Mr. Flynn at M&M’s came to us first,” she said. “He came to us and asked us whether we wanted to do it or not and if we were interested in the store. That was Al’s baby, he wanted to do that kind of thing, so this is his.”

Michelle said they are excited about the expansion.

“I believe it is a positive move, we pull a lot clients from Wallaceburg,” she said. “We’ve always had a lot of inquiries about us going over there.”

Dresden Meat and Deli officially opens on Monday, June 23.

The hours of operations are Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You can reach them in Wallaceburg at 519-627-5959.
