The Wallaceburg Fireworks committee utilized social media this week to raise funds for their upcoming Canada Day festivities.

When their Facebook auction was complete, they have raised a projected total of $2,250.

“You can’t say enough about the support,” said Kristyna Roocroft, a committee member. “It is pretty amazing all the support we have gotten from local businesses. It is quite outstanding… we are all speechless.”

Roocroft said the funds raised will offset the cost of the festival, which takes place on Tuesday.

About 61 items were donated by various businesses in the community.

The fundraising isn’t quite over the group either.

Monday is officially Kicker Day over at Your Hometown Deli.

Everyone is being encouraged to stop by and pick up one of the Shaun Shuisham created sandwiches for lunch.

$2 from each Kicker sold goes to the fireworks festival.

The festivities get started at 4 p.m. on Tuesday between Kinsmen Park and A.A. Wright Public School.
