Lizard on the loose in Corunna

Clouded-Monitor-Lizard

Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call in the 400 block of Beresford Street on July 10, 2014 around 3:00 p.m. concerning a lizard.

The lizard was seen on the move in a residential yard and appears to be around three feet long. The animal was not able to be captured at the time and is still believed to be free.

Even though temperatures for us are warm and comfortable, the evening temperatures are not warm enough for this type of animal and it may seek warmth in various ways like lying on the warm asphalt of roads and parking lots.

Information from personnel at Blue Water Centre for Raptor Rehabilitation (BCRR) is that it is unlikely that the lizard is a threat to animals or children, but still, it is best not to approach the animal. The lizard should be dealt with by experienced handlers and BCRR will bring experienced handlers along to assist should the lizard be seen again.

Anyone who sees the lizard can contact Lambton OPP for assistance, and also the BCRR can be contacted through (519) 466-2443 or (226) 349-2443.
