McGregor and Wesley lone candidates in Wallaceburg

It is less than 100 days until the Chatham-Kent municipal election, and currently only two candidates have filed in Ward 5 – Wallaceburg.

Incumbent Jeff Wesley was the first out of the gate in Wallaceburg.

He was the leading vote getter back in the 2010 election, gathering 2,725 votes.

Carmen McGregor was the second person the file in Ward 5.

McGregor is currently a trustee with the Lambton-Kent District School Board.

Wallaceburg’s other elected representative Sheldon Parsons, has yet to file his papers but has told the Sydenham Current that in intends to run once again.

Two candidates are elected in Wallaceburg.

In the 2010 election, a total of six candidates were in the race, including: Wesley, Parsons, Travis Hooper, Diane Daly, William Arends and Matt K. Wood.

The deadline date and time to accept a nomination paper is September 12, 2014 during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This is the last day you may submit a nomination paper to the Clerk to be eligible to run for an office in the 2014 Municipal Election.

Election day is Oct. 27.
