Anyone who may have been waiting for the fair to come to Wallaceburg, might want to head to the Dresden Exhibition to get their “fair fix.”
The fair was scheduled to take place in Wallaceburg from August 1 to August 3, yet it has been cancelled.
“I don’t know the exact reason,” said Chris Clarke, director of operations for Carter Shows Ltd.
Clarke said it wasn’t Carter Shows idea to pull the plug.
“I wouldn’t want to misquote someone,” Clarke said. “From what I understood the organizers couldn’t or didn’t want to hold the event this year.”
The fair was set to be held at 62 McNaughton Ave., which is the same location as past years in the parking lot near McNaughton Family Dental and the former Sobey’s grocery store.
Wallaceburg Coun. Sheldon Parsons said he wasn’t sure who the organizers of the fair were locally.
“They set up at the Mall,” he said. “They used Kinsmen property five years ago.”
The event had been held from May 2 to May 5 last year in Wallaceburg.
Carter Shows is set up at the Dresden Raceway this weekend for the 139th annual Dresden Exhibition.
The Midway opens at 5 p.m. tonight, and 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
