Update: The Lambton OPP have confirmed with us that the suspect in this case is still at large and has not been apprehended. The manhunt and investigation is on-going.

The investigation continues after a stolen vehicle was abandoned and a house was broken into in St. Clair Township yesterday.

Sources tell us the alleged suspect was apprehended last night (July 29), however this has yet to be confirmed.

Const. Todd Monaghan of the Lambton OPP told the Sydenham Current there was no new information.

The incident began Tuesday morning when a pick-up truck that had been reported stolen in Sarnia was spotted by Lambton OPP just before 9 a.m.

Police officials say the truck was spotted southbound on Waterworks Road at Courtright Line, but fled the area.

Subsequently, after 11 a.m. the stolen pick-up truck was located, abandoned in the area of Mandaumin Road and Bickford Line.

A search of that area by Lambton OPP and the West Region Canine Unit was completed.

However, the suspect was not located.

Local resident Corey Kinny said he came face-to-face with the alleged suspect, when the man entered Kinny’s home.

“I was just sitting in the house and someone tried getting in,” Kinny said. “I just chased him out and then I called the cops.”

Before the abandoned vehicle was towed from the scene on Mandaumin Road yesterday evening, police told us the suspect was spotted going into an woodlot.

Police said they tracked the suspect for about four hours and the identity of the alleged suspect is known to police.

We’ll provide more information when it becomes available.
