Wallaceburg legend featured at Museum

A Wallaceburg legend is now on display at the Wallaceburg and District Museum.

The life and career of Wallaceburg’s long time skate sharpener, Frank Dymock is being showcased in a display in the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame portion of the local museum.

“It was just finished last week, they have been working on it for at least the last couple months,” said Michelle Bissonnette, the curator at the museum. “He was big into hockey and he collected a lot of hockey related memorabilia. His son brought in a sample of some of the pucks he had on display in his shop.”

Also on display is the classic skate sharpening machine that many Wallaceburg and area residents would recognize from Dymock’s old shop.

Dymock was a retired linesman with Ontario Hydro, but he is famous in Wallaceburg for being the go-to guy for skate sharpening for 50 plus years.

He died in December of 2013 at the age of 82.

Drop by 505 King St. location in Wallaceburg to check out the display.
