The Wallaceburg Tartans fell short in their opening game of season in senior boys football action.
The Tartans lost to the UCC Lancers 19-14 in the first game of the season held in Chatham.
This game marked the start of a new era locally, as it was the first senior boys football game in the newly amalgamated Lambton-Kent Secondary School Athletic Association.
Wallaceburg has opted to participate in the 12-man league this season, as have their long-time rival Lancers (AAAA).
Others in the 12-man league include Chatham-Kent Secondary School (AAA), Sarnia Northern (AAA) and Sarnia St. Patrick’s (AAAA.)
The Tartans are the only AA school in the 12-man league.
Other local teams, the Blenheim Bobcats and the John McGregor Panthers are playing in an 8-man league, which was started last year.
