Dresden Kings GM passes away

The Dresden Kings are mourning with the sudden loss of their general manager.

After battling a brief illness, Dennis Brewer died on Friday, Oct. 10.

He was 59.

Brewer had been serving as the general manager of the Dresden Kings and was a long-time supporter of hockey in the area. He also played for the Chatham Maroons in the 1970s.

“On behalf of the Dresden JR King Organization, we would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the Brewer family,” the Dresden Kings said in a statement. “Dennis has been an active member with the Kings for many years. Dennis will be missed by many in the hockey world.”

A moment of silence was held on Friday in Dresden, before the Kings battled the Blenheim Blades.

Family and friends are invited to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, located at 245 Wellington West, in Chatham on Wednesday October 15 for visitations from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The memorial service will be conducted at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre, 565 Richmond St. in Chatham, on Thursday October 16th at 1 p.m.
