A Wallaceburg teen is set to make her debut on the small screen tonight.

Alyssa Doherty, 17, will be appearing in the Friday, Nov. 14 episode of See No Evil.

The show will appear on Slice at 9 p.m. and again at 11 p.m.

The Grade 12 UCC student, who now lives in Chatham, told the Sydenham Current that she has to remain tight-lipped about the show until it airs.

“I’m not really allowed to say anything about it, other than it is true life crime stories,” she said.

After starting acting when she was just five-years-old, Doherty said her agent contacted about this role in See No Evil.

“It was a lot of hard work,” she said. “It was a really fun experience. It was really hard to get into the mindset of the character, but once I was there it felt almost too real. It was kind of scary at times.”

Doherty added: “When I heard about the role and I had my audition, I really researched everything because it is a real case, so I Googled from the bottom of the list to the top and I found out everything about my character. I had to make sure this character was going to come off as a real person.”

According to the Slice website, See No Evil is a new series about how real crimes are solved with the help of surveillance cameras.

After having this positive experience, Doherty said she is hoping some other opportunities pan out.

“I’m waiting on a few roles right now, hopefully something will come soon,” she said. “I’m hoping to do a lot of stuff with filming now. I do like musical theatre, but I feel like filming and TV film is very fun too.”

Doherty got a nice boost in her career when she was in Grade 7 when she landed the lead role in the Toronto production of Annie.

She has also appeared in other local shows with Take A Bow Productions and in the Kiwanis Music Festival.

Doherty said she plans on focusing on her acting-career once she finishes high school.

“I am going to take an extra year for school and get more experience,” she said.

While she waits for another TV role, Doherty will be working on the upcoming UCC production of The Addams Family, taking place in the spring.

She is also working on launching a brand new business, Princess Parties, where she will perform and sing in costume at kid’s parties.
