Update: Cyclist dies as hit and run investigation continues

On October 30, 2014 shortly after 6:00 a.m. emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision.

A cyclist was travelling eastbound on Park Avenue East in Chatham.

The 52-year-old Chatham man was found lying on the gravel shoulder of the roadway.

He was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance by ambulance and later airlifted to a Windsor Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers believe he was struck by a passing motorist.

On November 9, 2014, police were notified that the man had succumbed to his injuries in Windsor.

Members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service offer their deepest condolences to the man’s family and friends.

The collision remains under investigation.
