Cause of Mud Creek blaze ‘undetermined’

The Chatham-Kent Fire Department could not figure out exactly what caused the blaze at the Mud Creek Sport Club near Mitchellā€™s Bay late in the evening on New Year’s Day.

“It is undetermined at this time and the investigation is now closed,” Assistant Fire Chief Ric Scharf told the Sydenham Current.

Dover and Tupperville firefighters were called to a fire at the dog kennel and workshop portion of the property at 9:36 p.m. on Thursday, January 1.

Scharf said no people or animals were hurt.

“Only two dogs were on the property and staff was able to get them both out of the kennel area safely,” Scharf said.

The fire caused approximately $40,000 damage.
