McGregor requests closed session clarity

Carmen McGregor

Wallaceburg Coun. Carmen McGregor is looking for some clarity surrounding closed session meetings for Chatham-Kent council.

McGregor made a successful motion to have CAO Don Shropshire provide council with a report, which outlines who, other than council and the clerk, attend a closed session meeting and why.

The report would also include the repercussions of what would happen should a breach of confidentiality occur by either councillor or staff.

McGregor, the newly elected closed session chair, said the information will be helpful to all the new C-K councillors.

“A better understanding would be beneficial,” McGregor said at Monday night’s council meeting.

Chatham Coun. Derek Robertson said “compromising” details heard in closed session meeting effects economic development.

“This is good information for the new councillors and a good reminder for the others,” he said.
