Kings top Lakers in Dresden

The Highway 78 series wrapped up for another year on Sunday night, as the Dresden Kings hosted the Wallaceburg Lakers.

After the Kings jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, the Lakers tried clawing their way back into the game, getting within one goal at 4-3.

However, a third period goal by Dillon Liberty iced the 5-3 win for Dresden.

John Montgomery also scored a pair for Dresden, while Dede Cato and Derek Daly also scored.

Ryan Gruszka has two goals and an assist for Wallaceburg, while Lucais Meyskens also scored for the Lakers.

Daniel Tonietto made 32 saves for the win, while Scotty Gray made 32 saves in a losing effort.

With the win, the Kings improve their record to 18-16-2-0, good for 38 points.

Dresden currently sits ties for fourth in the Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League with the Blenheim Blades.

The Lakers have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
