As previously reported, around 10:30 a.m. yesterday morning, police received information that a student at JMSS on Cecile Avenue in Chatham was in possession of a weapon.
The school immediately secured the area.
Within minutes, officers located the student and he was taken in custody without incident.
The 17-year-old Chatham youth was found to be in possession of a knife.
He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was released with conditions pending a future court date of February 9, 2015.
