Roadside fight leads to assault charges

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a disturbance last night between Dresden and Wallaceburg.

Police officials said at approximately 8:30 p.m. police received information that two men, known to each other, were fighting on the side of the road while fixing a flat tire on McCreary Line in Chatham Township.

Police say the victim sustained minor injuries to his face.

The accused fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. officers located the man, under the influence of alcohol, in Dresden.

Through investigation, officers learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to consume alcohol or other intoxicating substances.

The 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault, failing to comply and breach of probation.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
