The Wallaceburg Courier Press pointed out in the “What we see, hear and think” portion of their Feb. 12 edition of their newspaper, that they were “surprised” to hear Chatham-Kent Coun. Trevor Thompson as the weekend news person on Wallaceburg’s 99.1 CKXS radio station for a couple of weekends in January.

Here is some of the feedback we received on social media about the issue.

“It’s really a non issue, given that so little news actually happens on a weekend, municipal or otherwise,” wrote Ron Laroche. “Also, perhaps the WCP forgets that until last November, the Ridgetown Independent’s publisher (Jim Brown) also sat on council – and I heard little (none really) opposition to that.”

Laroche added: “Let’s also not forget that the publisher, editor and the salesperson of The Current are also the same person. In the grand scheme of things, journalistic integrity has become an oxymoron.”

Matt Thompson wrote: “Wow. That should have never happened. The optics aren’t good.”

Thanks everyone for the feedback and for voting in the poll!
