Chatham-Kent Hospice is pleased to announce that Westhoek Construction Limited of Chatham was awarded the construction contract for our community’s 10-bed residential hospice.

Westhoek Construction was one of 6 construction companies that bid on the project and met the prequalification criteria including experience with similar projects; quality of past work; project schedule adherence, and local community support.

The construction project was awarded to the firm meeting all stated requirements and submitting the lowest bid.

Construction will begin in early spring with completion targeted for before the end of 2015.

The general contractor will work closely with ROA Studios, the project’s architecture firm.

After a leadership donation of $1.5 M was made by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, the Capital Campaign began in February 2014 with a goal of $5 million; $3 million to build the facility and $2 million for an Operational Sustainability Fund.

The campaign exceeded its target in December with $5.8 million donated by the generous community of Chatham-Kent.

Anyone interested in learning more about the next phase of the project are invited to attend one of two public information sessions scheduled for Friday, March 6th at 2 pm and 7 pm at St. Andrew’s Residence (99 Park Street, Chatham).
