Wallaceburg football player heading to CFL combine

Brandon DOnkers

Wallaceburg’s Brandon Donkers is hoping to crack the CFL and he’ll get the chance to showcase his stuff at an upcoming combine.

Donkers, who plays running back for the Windsor Fratmen Football Club of the Canadian Junior Football League, will join three other teammates at the CFL Regional Combine in Toronto at the end of the month, March 26.

The former Wallaceburg Tartan running back was an Ontario Football Conference All-Star last year.

He also led the conference in rushing with 999 yards and was named the Fratmen’s offensive player of the year.

“All four players will represent Windsor Fratmen Football very well,” said Mike LaChance, head coach of the Fratmen.

“All four are high character guys with a great deal of athletic ability that work hard on and off the field. When you combine a hunger to succeed with a high level of athleticism you give yourself a chance to excel to the next level. I expect all four to play professional football in the upcoming seasons.”
