Charges have been laid after a vehicle was found to be stolen during a traffic stop.
On March 12, 2015, just before 3:00 a.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a Toyota Matrix on Highway 40 near Pioneer Line, for a traffic violation.
Subsequent OPP investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen from a Chatham address.
Further investigation also revealed that the female passenger was in breach of her conditions.
As a result, the driver, a 32-year-old Chatham man, has been charged with the following:
– Theft Of Motor Vehicle, under the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession Of Property Obtained By Crime, under the Criminal Code of Canada
– Drive Without Proper Headlights, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
– Drive No Licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
A passenger in the vehicle, a 26-year-old woman from Wallaceburg, has been charged with fail to comply with recognizance, under the Criminal Code of Canada
Both appeared in a Chatham court on March 12, 2015, to answer to the charges.
