“I am extremely humbled and appreciative of this wonderful opportunity,” Perry said. “I feel like a fish out of water, or a Tough Mudder out of mud, to be associated with such an iconic family. Monday will be an emotional and unforgettable race. I want to thank everyone, too numerous to mention, who have encouraged and inspired me on my journey to this point. Dream big and never quit.”

The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by several cities in Greater Boston in eastern Massachusetts.

The event is held annually on Patriots’ Day, the third Monday of April.

The inaugural run started in 1897 and was inspired by the success of the first modern-day marathon competition in the 1896 Summer Olympics.
