15th box lunch fundraiser served up in Wallaceburg

The the 15th straight year Community Living Wallaceburg delivered box lunches across the community.

“It has become a well-oiled machine,” said Ron Laroche, coordinator, communications and fund development for Community Living Wallaceburg.

Laroche said they delivered over 1,700 lunches today, the most ever since the event started.

“This year the response from the community, as every year, has been wonderful.”

Laroche said the volunteers gathered at the UAW Hall early this morning, making sandwiches and boxing them with other items: apple, cookie and coleslaw, and some information about Community Living Wallaceburg.

The lunches were being delivered to Ridgetown, Blenheim, Tilbury, Chatham, Dover Centre, into Lambton County and Wallaceburg, Laroche said.

“Every year it is a dedicated group of volunteers that are willing to give up their Thursday morning. They are eager to do whatever is required and if it was not for the volunteers, the sponsors and supporters this would not happen. We’re very appreciative of all the work that goes into this.”
