Frost advisory issued in C-K

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory in Chatham-Kent.

Officials say some plants may be damaged or even destroyed by frost.

A high pressure system now over the American Midwest is expected to move over Southern Ontario tonight. Clear skies and light winds are expected for tonight into early Thursday morning. As a result, frost will develop near midnight. The areas near the shorelines of the Lower Great Lakes will have a lesser chance of frost.

Cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas. Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Weather Advisories for Frost are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
