A handful of students will have summer jobs this year, thanks to an annual federal program.

Bev Shipley, MP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, announced that 67 organizations in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex will receive a total of $238,347 in Canada Summer Jobs funding this year, creating 91 jobs for students across the riding.

“Creating summer jobs for students is important not only for our young people but also for our economic growth and long-term prosperity of Canada,” Shipley stated.

This popular program provides funding for not-for-profit organizations, public sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer full-time employees to create summer jobs for students between the ages of 15 and 30.

“Investing in our youth is investing in Canada’s future. I look forward to meeting with many of these driven and talented young people in their summer workplaces over the next few months,” Shipley stated.
